| Spacers: Spring-Type Conductor Spacers |
 |
The first bundle conductor 345kV transmission line in the United States was constructed on the American Electric Power System in 1954. ACA supplied an articulated design spacer for this project. Subsequent review of this line in 1967 revealed no wear or deterioration to the conductor or spacers. The spring-type design was developed by ACA and first installed on a 345kV line constructed by the Power Authority of New York in 1960.
ACA Spring-Type Conductor Spacers are produced with carefully designed and controlled surface finishes for extra high voltage use. Handling in the field should be with care to avoid mechanical damage to the clamp surfaces. The spacers should also be protected, preferably in their shipping containers, from dirt and foreign material prior installation. |
